Pause and reflect
On what it is
You hunt —
Would it even
Still your hunger?

What's left
Is more stitches
Than heart.

No kindness,
No support —
Condemned by my own.
Who are we if not united?

Ignoring
The infected finger.
Neatly bandaged,
Yet throbbing —
Still holding
The splinter.

Where can we hide
When even in dreams
The pain
Finds us?

Identity forsaken —
In the new world
The norm
Is uniformity.

She is the single
Dark cloud
Standing out against
A clear night's sky —
Melancholy incarnate,
Gazing down
With eyes of starlight.

It is okay
That your can't —
Just don't promise.

Life is motion,
Success a direction —
Not a destination.
You may advance
But can't ever
Arrive.

Unshared happiness
Lessens,
Unshared fears
Multiply.

Free will demands
Commandments
Set in chalk.

Passion
Carries us,
Even where
Support fails.

My voice of reason —
Hoarse with frustration,
Still screams at me
In vain.

But desolation
Remains —
The silence
That was you
To belong
Nevermore.

To those with dreams,
Even darkness
Is radiant.

Tired, worn,
Inching on —
Two steps ahead
The coming storm.

Not all we
Let go
Floats away.

If writing
Is emotion
Reading poetry's
A mirror.

…And outside
The shuttered windows
Rose a golden dawn.

"Come with me,
You can fly!"
The enigmatic stranger said.
Naive we took his hand —
Not knowing we would
Never land.
