Self-delusion —
Carving dimensions,
Sculpting spacetime
Long since fixed within our minds,
With binary intent.
It's a rigged game,
But one we might win.

A crisp, straight line,
Though drawn in sand.
No peer review,
No show of hands.
Scream all you like —
This is how
And where it ends.

Well, pardon me for
Mistaking your arrogance
For an actual personality.

Extrospective observation
Through internal rationale —
There is no morality in judgment,
Yet, you seem to hide that well.

Some fights are not worth
The blood they are boiled in —
Just walk away.

Judging by how we lived,
Salvation might be at most
A backdoor into heaven,
Or a thermostat in hell.

Tragic,
The haters,
The hated,
The hate —
Such squandered potential,
Such heart laid to waste,
Over…what?

Damned be the friendly,
The crucified saints —
Shamed out of context
With passive-aggressive
Unjustified hate.

Harrowed, the forsaken,
And yet, measures of happiness persist —
Some hallowed things cannot be taken,
Regardless of conviction or intent.

Not uncaring,
Not unkind,
Not that we
Will ever know,
But in the end,
Come hell or high water,
Never is the place we go.

Misaligned words and deeds,
Promises not followed through —
Patient years, fighting
The asphyxia that's you.

Life on hold,
Locked on sight.
Chasing Grails —
Wooden wants,
Lacquered gold.

Over, under,
All but through —
It's not your life.
It's you.

Thoughts fluttering
Like south-bound wings,
Basking in the dreamland sun.
Overhead far out of reach,
I shoot them down, one by one —
Dead ducks laid out in even rows,
From the gutter, back to task.

Secluded,
Lest our eyes betray us,
Silent,
Lest we might hear evil —
Boarding up the outside world,
Battling our inner demons.

Feelings,
Relieved nor sorry.
Life, a story —
Long and boring,
A collection of if-only's,
Polished to a dream.

Trouble surfacing
From under milky veils
Of drunken laughter —
Nothing's scarier
Than the bloody morning after.

Rip your heart out,
Tear it open —
Pour the pain out,
Fix what's broken.

Not every journey
Has an end,
Some merely have
A change in travelers —
Whichever start,
Begin, resume,
If you so choose to play the part,
Don't hesitate.
Embark with all your heart.

Proceed, go forth,
Fear be damned,
It can't be stopped
Once it began —
What had a start,
Will have an end.
